ABOUT US
Caring Transitions of Silver Spring North is a veteran-owned senior relocation and estate transition company serving Montgomery and Prince George's Counties. We help seniors and their families navigate downsizing, relocation, estate sales, and online auctions with compassion and real hands-on support.

THE ROLE
Our Estate Sale & Moving Team Members are the hands and heart of every project we run. You'll work alongside our Lead Move Manager to sort, pack, stage, and resettle household items for seniors transitioning to new homes or preparing for estate sales. Every day is different - one day you're carefully packing a lifetime of belongings, the next you're helping someone settle into a fresh start. This is physical, purposeful work, and the care you bring matters.

Note: We are not a moving company. Professional movers handle furniture and heavy items. Our focus is sorting, packing, organizing, staging, and resettling.

THIS ROLE IS A GREAT FIT FOR
  • Retirees looking for meaningful part-time work with flexible scheduling
  • Parents with school-age kids who need hours that work around family life
  • Anyone who wants active, hands-on work that makes a real difference every day - no nights, no retail, no corporate grind

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Sort, pack, and unpack household items safely and efficiently
  • Stage and price items for estate sales under the direction of the Lead
  • Assist with resettling clients into new living spaces
  • Organize and photograph items for online auctions using a handheld device
  • Greet clients professionally and communicate in a positive, respectful manner
  • Operate point-of-sale devices at estate sales as needed
  • Clean and maintain work areas throughout each project
  • Follow all company safety and conduct policies at all times

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented - this is non-negotiable
  • Genuine warmth and patience when working around seniors and their families
  • Willingness to work in cluttered and dusty environments (gloves and aprons provided)
  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs repeatedly and stand for extended periods; climb stairs
  • Comfortable adapting quickly and working with minimal supervision
  • Reachable by phone and text during scheduled availability
  • Knowledge of resale value of household items, antiques, vintage, or collectibles is a bonus
  • Experience in general labor, moving, organizing, caregiving, or home services is a plus but not required
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • High school diploma or equivalent; must be 18+

WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE JOB
  • Every day on-site is different - no two projects are ever the same
  • Weekend availability required; uniform provided for all on-site work
  • No tips or gratuities accepted
  • All off-the-clock client work is strictly prohibited
  • Background check and confidentiality agreement required upon hire

COMPENSATION & DETAILS
  • $17-$20/hr based on experience
  • Flexible, part-time schedule - typically 15-20 hours/week after a successful 90-day ramp-up
  • Daytime hours, no late nights
  • Biweekly pay
  • 90-day probationary period with formal review and path to consistent weekly hours
  • Meaningful, purpose-driven work with a veteran-owned team that invests in its people
